Can you tell us about yourself?
My name is Hazal and I am 25 years young. I’m Turkish, born and raised in Enschede. I love this city and decided to stay here for my studies. I studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Twente. As I enjoy helping people - especially related to health and sports - and because I enjoy learning about physics, this study really matched my interests.
During my studies, I learned about creating and improving biomedical products. I also did research related to human movement and physiological signals. Those experiences help me now at my job at TMSi.
Can you share some fun facts about yourself?
I really like sports and have played basketball since I was 10 years old. When I was younger, I also always wanted to play soccer, but did not get permission from my family as it wasn’t considered a sport for women. After asking time and time again, they finally let me play. Unfortunately, playing outside in the Dutch winters is too cold, so I did not continue with it. Recently, I have been starting to play tennis. My fiancée and I bought tennis rackets to play together.
As a child, my dream job was to be a gynecologist because I love newborn babies. It wasn’t until years later that I realized that, next to human anatomy and physiology, I was also very interested in technology. That made me choose biomedical engineering, there where technology meets health.
What is your role at TMSi? What are you looking forward to helping contribute to TMSi and the users of TMSi’s products?
At TMSi, I have two functions. I am a support engineer, which means that I help customers with their questions, issues, and repairs. Additionally, I am a verification and test engineer. This combination of roles means that I can both help people and help improve new products, which I really enjoy and fits my interests.
What made you choose to work at TMSi, and what do you like most about working at TMSi so far?
During my interview, I received a really warm welcome. The conversations were interesting and the interest and belief that future colleagues had in me were very encouraging. The opportunity to have a combined role also convinced me to start working here, because I enjoy my work being dynamic.
Jonathan Rangel
Supply Chain Manager
An all-around experienced professional with vast experience in Supply Chain and New Product Development areas, Jonathan is a team player in the Operations group.
Can you tell us about yourself?
My name is Jonathan Rangel. I am 36 years old, married to Mariana with one son and an 11-year-old Belgium Shepard. I am from León, Guanajuato, Mexico (500 kilometers from Mexico City)—a city surrounded by mountains. I studied Industrial Engineering and then did my master’s in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. I have 15 years of working experience, mostly in the automotive business and a few years in the shoe industry.
I moved to the Netherlands in May 2017, and it was my first time living away from my hometown. It was an extreme change. I did not know much about the Netherlands before I moved here, but I like it here very much. I like the nature, the friendly people, the international atmosphere, the architecture, and that I can cycle to work. Enschede is a nice city — it is not too busy and not too quiet. I also like Rotterdam, The Hague, and Zwolle. Of course, I also like patat and Dutch cheese.
Can you share some fun facts about yourself?
I love music. I have been playing the drums for more than 20 years, and play a little bit of guitar. I listen to music every day and like to go to concerts— mostly rock, but also classical, blues, and jazz. I like watching cartoons— children’s cartoons and cartoons for adults. I love the humor in them. I also like traveling— something I missed during covid. I like traveling to countries and tasting the local food and drinks. I like to learn about history by taking walking tours. In school, I was bad at geography and history, and now traveling is the best way I have learned. I have traveled to 15 different countries since I have lived in the Netherlands.
What is your role at TMSi? What are you looking forward to helping contribute to TMSi and the users of TMSi’s products?
I am a supply chain manager, so I am responsible for purchasing, production planning, dealing with suppliers, exports, and shipments. I would like to bring my experience from working in various areas of big companies to guarantee on-time delivery of goods, to make processes more efficient, and contribute to the growth of the company.
What made you choose to work at TMSi, and what do you like most about working at TMSi so far?
I chose to work at TMSi for the friendly atmosphere I experienced during my interviews, and I still feel it now that I work here. I like that you can just walk to each other and discuss whatever is needed. Also, I feel encouraged and supported to grow in my career, and that my contributions can have a big impact. Lastly, I have the impression that it is important that the people are happy with what they are doing in the workplace. Sometimes in companies, the well-being of the employees can be forgotten, but at TMSi, I feel that they care. That is a big reason why I chose to work here.
